Woman attacked, shot at N. Idaho rest stop

POTLATCH, Idaho (AP) — Authorities have identified a 28-year-old northern Idaho woman who was shot at a rest stop north of Potlatch. Kayla M. Sedlacek, of Princeton, told deputies with the Latah County Sheriff’s Office that she stopped at the rest area around 3:30 a.m. on Monday. She reported that she was using the women’s bathroom when she was attacked by a man wearing a ski mask. The sheriff’s office says Sedlacek had been carrying a handgun and reported that she had been struggling with her attacker when she was shot in the abdomen. The Moscow-Pullman Daily News reports that Sedlacek was shot with her own gun, a .38 caliber handgun. Sedlacek said the man who attacked her was wearing a white shirt, black jeans and a dark blue or black ski mask. She remained at a Moscow hospital on Tuesday.
