Education Notebook: School to host author

St. George’s School will feature Sherry Jones, a historical-fiction author and journalist, at 7 p.m. Monday at the school’s Founders Theater.

Jones will give a reading in costume from her upcoming book, “Four Sisters, All Queens,” that will be in bookstores in May. The book is a story of four sisters in 13th-century Provence who became queens of France, England, Germany and Italy. The reading will be followed by a book signing.

Jones will spend Tuesday at the school with St. George’s students, helping young writers develop their skill and tell their own creative stories. Her visit is part of the Get Lit! program. For more information visit http:// outreach.ewu.edu/ getlit/2927.xml.

Running Start nights

Spokane Falls Community College and Spokane Community College are hosting Running Start information nights this month.

The sessions will give next year’s high school juniors and seniors and their parents information about how to earn college credits while completing high school academic requirements. Current Running Start students, counselors and coordinators will be available to answer questions.

Running Start college credits transfer to most four-year state colleges.

Classes are tuition-free up to 15 credits based on a student’s combined high school and college class load.

The first informational night is April 12 at Spokane Community College, 1810 N. Greene St., in the Lair-Student Center Sasquatch Room, Building 6. The program begins at 7 p.m. On April 17, the program will be held at Spokane Falls Community College, 3410 W. Fort George Wright Drive, in the Student Union Lounges A, B, and C in Building 17. The program begins at 7 p.m.
