‘Little Women’ coming to U-Hi stage

The drama department at University High School, 12420 E. 32nd Ave., will present the musical “Little Women,” based on the classic novel by Louisa May Alcott.

The curtain goes up at 7 p.m. in the school theater on Thursday, Friday, and April 14, 19, 20 and 21.

The story revolves around the March sisters, Meg, Jo, Amy and Beth, their mother Marmee, and their adventures while the men of the family are off fighting the Civil War.

The production, like “Sweeney Todd” and “The Assassins,” will be submitted to the 5th Avenue Awards in Seattle.

Tickets are $10 and are available in advance at the school business office or at the door.

The cast includes Shelby Horton as Marmee, Catherine Judkins as Aunt March, Brittany Holden as Meg, Bethany Smith as Jo, Caitlyn Horton as Beth, Aubree Peterson as Amy, Quinn Johnson as Laurie, Loren Mellick as Professor Bhaer, Joseph Hall as Mr. Brook, Josh Koester as Mr. Laurence and Mariah Smith as Mrs. Kirk.

Other players include Adara Tredway as Clarissa, Shandy Brewer as the Hag, Abby Tunick as the Troll, Glory Phelps as Rodrigo 2, Matt Gerard as Braxton, Mathias Oliver as Rodrigo, Hayden Griffith as the Knight. Male dancers are Tanner Wirth and Seth Rohrenbach. Female dancers are Gabie Jones, Emily Barville and Selah Phelps.
