Obituary: Howey, Dennis Lee

HOWEY, Dennis Lee

Was born on April 12, 1944 in Vancouver WA and passed away on March 28, 2012 in Spokane, WA.

In 1945 his parents Therman and Lucy Howey had moved to Dalton Gardens where he and his surviving sister Jane spent all of their childhood.

Dennis is a graduate of Coeur d’Alene high school and a graduate of University of Idaho.

In May of 1971 he married Linda (Reynolds), wife of 40 years, graduated U of I as an electrical engineer and began working for Washington Water Power and all within a week.

In 1975 he and Linda moved to Spokane Valley, built their home and began their family of two sons, Brad and Wayne.

Dennis has always proclaimed Spokane as his home.

Prior to attending U of I, Dennis served in the Navy as a Second Class Petty Officer and Fire Controlman on the USS Tang during the Vietnam War.

During his service he received three medals, Good Conduct, National Defense Service and Armed Forces Expeditionary.

After college he began his career with WWP/Avista as an electrical engineer.

His remaining 38-year career was with WWP/Avista until his retirement in 2009.

Dennis had many interest in life, but no interest was greater than the freedom he found riding his motorcycle.

He and Linda were members of the Goldwing Road Riders Assoc.

for more than 19 years.

They loved to hook up the trailer to back of the bike and ride and camp for weeks at a time.

When they weren’t on the motorcycle, they would be pulling the family travel trailer to NACO or joining the Fraternal Order of Eagles camping group with the boys for quality family vacation time.

When the seasons were no longer conducive to outdoor entertainment, Dennis could be found at the bowling alley.

He was a member of the American Bowlers Association, and has accredited to his talents 5, sanctioned 300 games.
Dennis is survived by, his loving wife, Linda, son Brad, his granddaughters Taylor, Amber, Leigha, Lucy and son Wayne.

His sister, Jane Romaine and nieces, Karen and Tammy.

Graveside services will be held Saturday, April 14th at 10:00 am, Pleasant View Cemetery Post Falls, ID.

Following a Celebration of Life at Eagles Lodge Aerie 2, 6410 N Ledgerwood St, Spokane, from 12-3pm.
