Spotlight: Percussionist Zivkovic to play with symphony

The upcoming Spokane Symphony concert will feature an appearance by a percussionist who will perform his own marimba concerto.

Nebojsa Zivkovic, a native of Serbia now based in Germany, will perform his Marimba Concerto No. 2 in concerts Saturday and next Sunday. To check out Zivkovic and hear some of his dozens of compositions, visit his website, www.zivkovic.de.>

The weekend also will include performances of Pytor Ilyich Tchaikovsky’s Symphony No. 6 “Pathetique” and Bedrich Smetana’s “From Bohemia’s Forests and Meadows.”

Ticket prices for either performance begin at $14. Tickets may be purchased at the Martin Woldson Theater at the Fox box office, 1001 W. Sprague Ave., or by calling (509) 624-1200. Tickets may also be purchased at www.spokanesymphony.org or at any TicketsWest outlet.

Individual tickets for this season’s offerings from Coeur d’Alene Summer Theatre go on sale Thursday.

The season includes:

• “Hello, Dolly,” June 14-23;

• “Ring of Fire,” July 5-15;

• “Monty Python’s Spamalot,” July 26-Aug. 5;

• “Ragtime,” Aug. 16-26.

Ticket prices are $25.95 for youth ages 6-12, $35.95 for seniors 60 and older, and $39.95 for adults. Taxes and fees will apply.
