In brief: Motorcyclist dies after hitting deer

An Idaho man died Saturday after his motorcycle collided with a deer in Boundary County near the Idaho-Montana border.

Wayne Williams, 51, was westbound on U.S. Highway 2 when he hit the deer, which caused the Harley-Davidson to go off the road, according to the Idaho State Police. His passenger, Kelli Williams, 48, was taken to Boundary Community Hospital with injuries.

Neither of them was wearing a helmet, authorities said.

Forecast calls for sunshine, 60s

Temperatures reached near 60 for Easter Sunday, and more warm weather is forecast for the start of the workweek. But by midweek, clouds are expected to return.

“This is definitely the warm, dry spell,” said Mark Turner, a National Weather Service technician. An unstable weather pattern is expected to return Wednesday and continue through the week.

Today’s forecast calls for sunshine and temperatures in the mid- to upper 60s. Tuesday could be the warmest day this year with temperatures reaching the low 70s.

Gray skies are expected to return Wednesday, with a 40 percent chance of showers, according to the Weather Service. A chance of showers remains in the forecast through Saturday. Temperatures should be in the upper 50s or lower 60s.

The clouds are expected to clear out by next Sunday.
