Obama sweeps to Idaho caucus win

MERIDIAN, Idaho – President Barack Obama won the support of 98 percent of participants at caucuses held by Idaho Democrats around the state on Saturday.

Idaho Democrat Party Chairman Larry Grant in a statement said Idaho Democrats are enthusiastic about having a Democratic president who stands up for middle-class families and working Americans.

Party officials said about 1,300 people took part at county caucuses held at 34 sites, with results from seven counties remaining unreported by late afternoon.

Anyone taking part had to sign a pledge form stating they’re a member of the Democratic Party and then declare support for Obama or that they’re uncommitted. Obama is unopposed for the Democratic nomination.

Four years ago, an estimated 22,000 people participated in the party’s caucuses and overwhelmingly picked Obama over rival Hillary Clinton.
