Obituary: White, Richard Arthur

WHITE,
Richard Arthur

Richard Arthur “Dick” White, age 59, passed away at Hospice House in Spokane on April 11, 2012.

Dick was born in Seattle and moved to Spokane in 1960.

He graduated from Ferris High School in 1969 and then received his AA from SCC in 1971.

He had hoped to go into teaching.

As a young boy, Dick was diagnosed with a neuromuscular disease which progressed as years went on.

His working years were brief but his favorite job was at Expo 74 Worlds Fair.

His later years found him in a wheelchair and he became a resident of Regency at NorthPointe.

He had a quick wit and made friends with many of the staff.

He was interested in music, science fiction and the Civil War.

As his disease caught up with him, he spent his final days at Hospice House.

Dick is survived by his parents, George and Evelyn White of Spokane, sister Diane (Mitch) Veltri of Spokane, and niece Carissa Veltri of Kennewick.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Douglas White.

We would like to thank everyone there for their wonderful care.

Most of all we thank God for making him a part of our lives and for taking him home at just the right time.

He will be missed.

A private service will be held at a later date.

Memorial contributions may be made in Dick’s name to Hospice of Spokane, P.O.
