Arboretum is site of Compost Fair

The 32nd semi-annual Compost Fair, held by the Spokane Master Composters/Recyclers, will be April 28 at Finch Arboretum, beginning at 11 a.m. The event is part of the Arbor Day Celebration.

Activity stations will be set up for hands-on experience and to provide information on materials that can be composted, types of bins, and how to build and turn a pile.

The fair is free and open to Spokane residents. People who provide identification verifying residence can receive a free compost bin after completing the activity stations. There is a limit of one bin per household. The bins are provided by Spokane Regional Solid Waste System and grant funds from the Washington Department of Ecology.

For more information, call the Recycling Hot Line at (509) 625-6800.
