Masked ‘Robin Hood’ robs pizza shop at gunpoint

A masked man claiming to be Robin Hood robbed a north Spokane pizza shop at gunpoint today. The robbery at Pizza Pipeline, 1724 W. Wellesley Ave., prompted school officials to lock down Shadle Park High School across the street while police searched for the gunman. Witnesses saw the robber fleeing the scene without his mask, but he was not located. Employees say he entered the store about 1:40 p.m. with a gun and demanded money. “He made statements about wanting to be called “Robin Hood” and not wanting to hurt the employees, even though he pointed his gun directly at employees,” police Sgt. Jason Hartman said in a news release. The robber ran northbound on Oak Street. He’s described as white, possibly in his 20s, 5-foot-9 to 6-feet tall, with short dark hair. He wore black pants, a black coat and a red backpack. Anyone who was in the area at the time and may have seen something related to the robbery is asked to call Crime Check at (509) 456-2233.
