Obituary: Hare, Ronald James


HARE,Ronald

Ronald James Hare, 74 years old, passed away on Sunday morning, April 15, 2012 at home in San Jose, CA.

He was cared for by his wife, Geraldine, and his three children, Andrea, Marisa, and Anthony for the preceding five months while he battled pancreatic cancer.
Born in Sheridan, OR in 1937, he moved with his family to Spokane when he was two years old, attended St. Aloysius School and later graduated from Gonzaga University.

He then moved to California permanently in 1961, married and started his teaching career.

He taught in Alum Rock School District from 1961 to 2003 interrupted only by a three year stint teaching for the Department of Defense in Japan and Germany.
He was a gifted athlete, avid reader, vicious Trivial Pursuit player, and lover of cross word puzzles.

He also followed in the footsteps of his seven brothers and took up cooking for his family and grand- children.
He was preceded in death by his mother Amelia Hare; brothers Harlan, Cecil, Vernon, Ray, Bill and sister, Lucille.

He is survived by his wife and three children; three grandchildren, Jessica Hare Simmons and Gracie and Liam “Sport” Hare; also two brothers, Fred of Spokane and Francis of San Jose; also 39 nieces and nephews.


A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Maria Goretti Catholic Church, April 28, 2012 at 2:00PM.

Donations may be made in his memory to the Morning Star Boy’s Ranch or the charity of your choice.


He will be forever cherished
as the BEST father and grandfather in the universe.
