HAWLEY, Edna

Edna Margaret Snyder Hawley was born at home in Spokane, Washington on February 18th, 1913 the second of five children born to Harry and Sarah Snyder.

Passed away April 11th, 2012 at Harbor Glen Memory Care Unit in Spokane WA.

Preceded in death by both parents; sisters, Joanne and Ellen; brothers, Howard and Hugh; son, Joel Scott; and her husband, Harold.

Survived by one brother-in-law, Ed Kelly; daughter, Patrica Leighton; seven grandchildren: Kellie ( Mike), Kathleen (Murphy), Vince (Jeni) Stacie, Chris (Jonna) and Brian (Kelly) and Michael Hawley;15 great-grandchildren, several cousins, nieces and nephews.
Edna grew up in Spokane and attended Our Lady of Lourdes Grade School and Holy Names Academy.

She worked as a Cosmetologist until she went to work for the War Effort at Kaiser Rolling Mill where she met Harold, whom she married in 1946.

She adopted and raised his two children as a stay at home Mom.
Edna was a member of Sacred Heart Parish.

She also volunteered at Riverview Retirement Community and Sacred Heart Medical Center.

We would like to thank the Staff at Harbor Glen who took care of her since August of 2010, and also Hospice of Spokane.

She had lived on her own until she was 97 and had been active all her life, walking as much as five miles every day.
