Obituary: Lallier, Herbert Francis

Age 75

LALLIER, Herbert Francis, Jr.
USAF TSGT Ret.
August 19, 1936 - April 13, 2012

Herb entered into eternal peace on April 13, 2012, at The Gardens on University in Spokane Valley, WA, after a long struggle with multiple medical illnesses.

Herb was born the third of 14 children in Chillicothe, Ohio on August 19, 1936, to Herbert Sr. and Ruth Whetstone.

He graduated from Chillicothe High School in 1954, and entered the United States Air Force upon graduation.

He proudly served his country as a Survival Instructor, retiring in 1975 from Fairchild Air Force Base after more than 20 years of service.

His professionalism and outstanding knowledge of survival, life support and parachuting as a Jump Master, resulted in major contributions to the effectiveness and success of the Air Force Survival School.


Herb is survived by his wife of over 30 years, LeAnne; and their three children, Krista, Daniel, and Nicholas of Spokane Valley, WA.

Also surviving is his former wife, Patty LaBeau; and their four children, Debbie (Don) Skjothaug of Cheney, WA, Donna (Bob) Miller of Chillicothe, OH, Herb (Tammy) Lallier III of Spokane Valley, WA, and Gary (Kim) Lallier of Spokane, WA.

He is also survived by his 13 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; five sisters, June, Jean, Jane, Joyce, and Jacqueline; and six brothers, Bob, Ronnie, Rick, Joe, Paul, and Larry, all in the Chillicothe area.

Herb is preceded in death by his parents; sister, Joan; and brother, Jim.
The family wishes to acknowledge with deep appreciation the staff at the VA Community Living Center Hospice Unit and The Gardens on University for their loving care and kindness given to Herb these past months.

A celebration of life with full military honors will be held on Saturday, April 28, 2012, at 11:30 AM at The Intersection Church (Valley Open Bible), 905 N. McDonald Rd., Spokane Valley, WA.

Reception will follow the service.

Inurnment will be at a later date at the Washington State Veterans Cemetery in Medical Lake, WA.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the VA Community Living Center Hospice Unit, 4815 N. Assembly St., Spokane, WA 99205, or the Spokane Humane Society, 6607 N. Havana St., Spokane, WA 99217.
