Bonner County ribbon ceremony planned

From Staff Reports

Bonner County will host an open house Monday for its new, $4.6 million Justice Services Building. A ribbon-cutting ceremony will be at 11:30 a.m.

The 18,000-square-foot building contains a 27-bed juvenile detention facility and juvenile probation and adult misdemeanor probation offices. It’s scheduled to open April 30 at 4002 Samuelson Ave., near the county fairgrounds in Sandpoint.

The detention facility replaces one that lost its state certification last year. The older facility operates out of a four-bedroom residential home that was never designed for that use.

The project was funded with $3 million in county reserves and $1.6 million in other county funds.

Ormond Builders of Idaho Falls was the contractor, in association with Plan One/Architects of Driggs, Idaho.
