Passed away April 3, 2012 in Spokane, WA.

She was born on March 2, 1919 in Tamani, Idaho to Walter and Hazel McKenzie.

Her family moved to Spokane, WA where she attended North Central High.

After graduating she attended Spokane Jr. College for a short time.

She married Donovan Simons June 1938 in Spokane, WA.

After their marriage they moved to Creston, WA where they farmed for several years before moving to Kirkland, WA where they worked at the shipyards during WWII.

After the war they returned to the family farm in the Creston area and continued to farm until Donovan’s death in 1960.

She later married Jack Lee and worked as a secretary at Creston High school.

She and Jack later moved to Davenport where she worked for the Davenport Times Newspaper and later for the Lincoln County Assessor’s office.

After she and Jack divorced she moved to Spokane, WA where she worked as a care giver for many years until she retired at the age of 75.

When her health began to fail she was very lovingly cared for by her daughter Bette in their home.

Evelyn was surrounded by her son, daughters and Deborah & Louise (caregivers) in her last days.

She died peacefully on April 3, 2012 in her home.

Evelyn is survived by her four children Danise and (Jim) Tarbert; Donovan (Van) Simons Jr.; Bette Simons and Merilee and (Bill) McDowell along with three grandchildren Kathi Storer; Deanna Tarbert and Danielle Burnside and three great grandchildren Jesse, Taylor and MacKenzie.

She has several nieces and nephews and extended family.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Donovan Simons Sr. and a brother Walter McKenzie.

She is a member of the Creston Christian Church where she served on CWF, sang in the choir and was a Sunday school superintendant.

She enjoyed dancing, singing, sewing and the Simons family reunions.

She enjoyed her view of Audubon Park watching the change of the seasons.

A graveside services will be held on Saturday, April 28, 2012 at 11:00 AM at the Sherman Cemetery, Wilbur, WA followed by a Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, April 28, 2012 at 1:00 PM at the Creston Christian Church110 NE Foster Creston, WA with Pastor Guy Schmielau, officiating.
