Man shot in abdomen on lower South Hill
A 35-year-old man was seriously injured when he was shot by an unidentified assailant Thursday.
Gang and major crimes detectives are investigating the shooting, which occurred just before 7 a.m. in the area of West Sixth Avenue and South Oak Street on Spokane’s lower South Hill.
Two officers were responding to an unrelated call near 13th Avenue and South Cedar Street when a car pulled and the driver told them her friend had been shot and was laying in the back seat of the car.
Officers say the victim had a gunshot wound to his abdomen but was conscious and speaking.
The car was seized as evidence. Police identified the crime scene as an alley to the south of the 1800 block of Sixth Avenue. After finding bullet holes in the walls of a nearby apartment complex, officers forced their way into one of the units to verify no suspects or victims were inside. Officers with the gang enforcement team later served a search warrant there to collect evidence.
No arrests have been made.
