Rathdrum man dies in tractor accident

A Rathdrum man died Tuesday after getting pinned beneath his tractor, the Kootenai County Sheriff’s Department said Wednesday.

Sheriff’s deputies and Northern Lake Fire Department personnel found Donald Scott, 75, dead when they responded to a report at 14151 W. Pond View Road, according to a Kootenai County press release.

Initial investigation shows that Scott was excavating with a Massy Ferguson tractor on his family’s farm when the tractor went over an embankment and rolled onto its top, pinning Scott under the tractor. When Scott did not return from the work around 11 a.m., family members started searching the farm and located Scott around 4 p.m.

The Sheriff’s Office Traffic Investigation Team is conducting the investigation.
