Obituary: Robinson, Kinsey W.

Kinsey W.
(Age 89)

Passed away on April 23, 2012 in Spokane.

He was born in 1922 in Payette, Idaho and moved to Boise in 1929 and Spokane in 1939.

Kinsey was the son of Ruth and Kinsey M. Robinson who was president, C.E.O.

and Chairman of the Board of the Washington Water Power Company.

He attended Gonzaga University prior to entering the Army in 1942.

While Kinsey was assigned to the 102nd Infantry Division, he attended Heidelberg University, majoring in Engineering.

Kinsey served in Holland, Belgium and Germany during World War II.

He was wounded in Emmendorf and again during a battle on the Rhine River, receiving two purple hearts.

Kinsey married Agnes “Robbie” Boutin in 1945, who he had known since they were 15 years old; they had three children.

He owned the Owl Fuel Company for 16 years.

Kinsey enjoyed many summers at Hayden Lake while growing up and in later years with family and friends.

In 1965, the family relocated to Lewiston where he worked for Potlatch Corporation as Purchasing Coordinator until he retired in 1986 and returned to Spokane.

Kinsey and Robbie have been active with the Spokane Guild’s School and Neuromuscular Center, Inland Northwest Blood Center, Ogden Hall Shelter, Inland Chapter of Multiple Sclerosis and local A.L.S.

Association.

He was also active in Kiwanis and Vice Chairman of Big Brothers.

The Robinsons wintered in Arizona and annually traveled abroad.

Kinsey was an avid reader, loved fishing, hunting pheasant and playing Tournament Bridge and golf.

He was happiest when working in his beautiful garden and yard.

He lived his life with integrity and honesty.

Kinsey is survived by his wife Robbie Robinson; daughter Gale Robinson; son Kinsey Robinson; grandson Rob Robinson; great-granddaughter Summer Robinson; sister Zoe Kelm and many nieces and nephews.

Their beloved son Rob Robinson died in 1971.
