Obituary: Larson, Colleen A.

LARSON,
Colleen A.

(Age 65)

Colleen Larson passed away April 23, 2012 after a courageous battle with cancer.

Colleen was born January 17, 1947 in Maddock, ND to Ralph and Wilma Guttromson.

At age 7 the family moved to Spokane, WA.

Colleen graduated from Rogers High School in 1965 and attended Spokane Community College where she met her first husband marrying July 15, 1967.

Colleen’s career could best be described as ‘taking the road less traveled’.

During the late 1970’s she was one of the first women employed as a brakeman for Burlington Northern Railroad and later worked as a long haul truck driver including working a season as a crab processor.

She always had a passion for the arts and in recent years made a living as a freelance artist.

Colleen also enjoyed gardening and primarily resided in the Spokane area with short stays in Utah and Alaska and planted flowers wherever she lived.

Colleen was preceded in death by her father Ralph Guttromson and mother Wilma Guttromson.

She is survived by her sons Dru McMackin of Ephrata, WA; Brent Larson of Spokane, WA; Scott Larson of Fremont, CA; her brothers Maurice Guttromson, William Guttromson, James Guttromson; her sister Beverly Wormington and her 4 grandchildren.

A memorial service for Colleen will be held Friday May 4, 2012 at 10:00am at Heritage Funeral Home.
