Santorum booked to jaw with Leno

From Wire Reports

Republican Rick Santorum lost his bid to become president this year, but he’s earned a trip to Jay Leno’s couch.

“The Tonight Show” announced Friday that the former Pennsylvania senator will appear on Leno’s Burbank stage on May 8.

It will be his first appearance on the NBC late-night program.

Santorum pulled out of the GOP primary earlier this month, clearing the way for Mitt Romney to claim victory in the battle for the nomination to challenge Democratic President Barack Obama.

All ears for Uggie? He has treat coming

Every dog has its book deal.

Uggie, the Jack Russell terrier who appeared in the Oscar-winning “The Artist,” has a memoir coming. Gallery Books, an imprint of Simon & Schuster, announced Friday that “Uggie: My Story” will come out in October. His tale of tails will be transcribed by biographer and presumed dog whisperer Wendy Holden.

Uggie’s other films include “The Descendants” and “Water for Elephants,” so look for the inside doggie dish on George Clooney, Reese Witherspoon and others.

Crow raises funds at half-marathon

Singer Sheryl Crow joined more than 30,000 runners in her first half-marathon, and she has finished with a time of 1 hour, 59 minutes and 14 seconds at the St. Jude Country Music Half Marathon.

Crow was running to raise money for New Hope Academy, and she says she got plenty of support from people cheering the runners all along the course. She says she can really see how people get hooked on running marathons.

Ryan James, 19, a sophomore from Berry College’s cross country team, won the first marathon he entered, finishing in a time of 2:32:50. A cut in the cash prize to $1,000 limited the number of elite runners. Erin Sutton, 24, of Woodstock, Ga., also won her marathon debut with a time of 2:54:16.
