In brief: Two die in fight at campground

A fight at a Pend Oreille County campground left two Spokane men dead in the early morning hours Sunday.

The Pend Oreille County Sheriff’s Office said deputies responded to reports of a stabbing or possible shots fired at 12:20 a.m. Sunday at the Yocum Lake Campground area, 10 miles south of Ione.

Deputies found a group of about 10 people ages 18 to 24 who had been drinking alcohol at their campsite. A fight between two males, Steven Q. Divine, 22 and Richard R. Hill, 18, both of Spokane, had broken out during the night.

They were both dead at the scene, Divine with an apparent stab wound and Hill with an apparent gunshot wound.

The medical examiner will determine the cause of death. Both the Washington State Patrol and U.S. Border Patrol are assisting in the investigation.

Woman flips car off Sprague off-ramp

A woman flipped her car off the Sprague off-ramp Sunday, landing upside down in a nearby parking lot.

The Washington State Patrol reported Lara Geno, 23, suffered from an unknown medical condition while taking the off-ramp to Appleway Boulevard in a 2007 Nissan Versa. The vehicle left the ramp, drove down an embankment, struck the fence at the Spokane Valley Fire Department, went airborne and landed upside down.

Geno was wearing a seatbelt. She was transported to Valley Medical Center for her injuries.

Idaho man thrown from motorcycle

A motorcyclist wandered outside of his lane Sunday and went off the westbound side of the road, according to the Latah County Sheriff’s Department.

John Ryan, 70, of Post Falls, was traveling on his 1986 Suzuki with a group of motorcyclists when he went off State Highway 6 west of U.S. 95 near Potlatch, Idaho. He was thrown 15 to 20 feet.

He was wearing a helmet, and alcohol is not suspected in the crash.

Ryan was taken to Gritman Medical Center for his injuries.
