KESSINGER, Helen Elaine
December 1, 1918 to April 10, 2012

Helen was born December 1st, 1918 to George and Gladys Futter in Tekoa, Washington.

She graduated from Tekoa High School in 1937 with her classmate and future husband, Joseph F. Kessinger.

Joe and Helen both attended Kinman Business College, and were married in Spokane in 1939.

Joe served in the Navy during World War II, and after the war Joe and Helen returned to Spokane.

Joe and Helen purchased a grocery store at Hamilton and Sharp, and were a fixture for a generation of Gonzaga University and St. Aloyisius customers.

Both contributed greatly to their community through their many charitable acts.

Helen enjoyed gardening and travel, especially relishing her trips to Europe to visit her grandchildren.

Sadly, Joe passed away in 1978.

Helen sold the store and eventually moved to Connecticut to be closer to her son and his family.

Helen is survived by her sister Pat Nelson of Reno; son Paul Kessinger (Molly) of Wilton, CT; and daughter Susan (Robert) Huddleston of Allyn, WA; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Interment will be at Greenwood Memorial Terrace.
