Collision blocks downtown Spokane intersection

Authorities credit car seats with protecting three children from serious injuries in this Wednesday morning crash at the downtown Spokane intersection of Riverside Avenue and Browne Street. Two adults were taken to the hospital with unspecified injuries. (Spokane Police Department)
Traffic is congested at a busy downtown Spokane intersection as police investigate a collision that toppled an SUV this morning and sent two people to area hospitals for treatment. Riverside Avenue at Browne Street likely will remain closed for the rest of the morning, officials said, while traffic is moving but narrowed to one lane along Browne. None of the injuries were believed to be life threatening, authorities said, noting that three children were kept well protected by their car seats during the crash. The collision was reported about 10 a.m. today.
