Indians punish Boise with 17 hits, 15 runs

BOISE – Spokane piled up 17 hits, scored in six consecutive innings and took advantage of six Boise errors as the Indians pummeled the Hawks 15-1 in a Northwest League baseball game on Thursday night. Boise picked up a run in the first inning off starter C.J. Edwards but the rest of the night belonged to the Indians, who started their scoring spree in the fourth inning with Joe Maloney’s three-run home run, his third homer of the season. Edwards picked up the win, his first decision, giving up two hits over five innings while walking three and striking out six. Alec Asher and Ryan Harvey pitched two innings apiece to finish the game, giving up one hit each. Cam Schiller had three RBIs with a 4-for-6 night that included two doubles, and Smerling Lantigua went 4 for 4 with a triple. Only one starter didn’t pick up a hit for the Indians. The Indians scored 34 runs in the three-game series, but Boise won the first two games. The teams now play a three-game set in Spokane starting tonight.
