Moscow’s Williams closes within one shot of lead

 

Chris Williams shot a 6-under-par 66 in the second round of stroke play at the Western Amateur Championship in Highland Park, Ill., on Wednesday and enters today’s final round of stroke play one shot off the lead.

Williams (University of Washington/Moscow High), the tournament’s medalist last year, was one of 54 golfers to advance to today’s final round of stroke play. Williams had nine birdies and is tied with Lorens Chan for second. Abraham Ancer leads at 7 under.

Football

The Spokane Shock’s Terrance Sanders was named to the Arena Football League’s first team at defensive back and second team as a kick returner. Sanders set single-season franchise records for interceptions (eight) and kickoff return yards (1,595). He missed four games.
