MASKENTHINE, Lloyd
(Age 94)

Passed away on July 6, 2012.

Lloyd was born on May 24, 1918 in Davenport, WA to Ernest and Grace (Boleneus) Maskenthine.


He attended school in Davenport, graduating in 1936.

He was a varsity tennis player, earning Bi-County honors in that sport.

In 1942 he graduated from machinist school and worked in the machine shop at the Kaneohe (Hawaii) Naval Air Station as a civilian during World War II.

On January 1, 1948, Lloyd married Elaine Mitchell, whom he met when she came to Davenport as a second grade teacher.

He was the district supervisor for the eastern region of the Washington State Parks, headquartered at Riverside State park for 10 years.

In 1959, Lloyd returned to Davenport, where he owned and operated Lloyd’s Hardware store for 15 years.


Lloyd enjoyed spending weekends with his family at Lake Roosevelt boating and teaching multiple generations how to water ski.

He was a welcome partner at any bridge or pinochle table, but most of all he enjoyed bowling, participating in that sport for more than 50 years.

He was an active member of Pilgrim Lutheran Church in Spokane and Zion Lutheran Church in Davenport, serving on the Council and as President of that congregation.

Lloyd was a member of the Davenport Lions Club, Davenport Chamber of Commerce, and was a former Mayor of Davenport.


He is survived by his wife, Elaine, at the home; two daughters: Janet Ray (Terry), and Susan Hegstrom (Richard); two grandchildren, Brandon Ray (Gretchen) and Katrina Ray; two step grandchildren, Bo Hegstrom (Tiffany) and Curtis Hegstrom, and two great grandchildren, Zoe and Kian Ray.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Elaine Morgan and Rita McGath.


A Graveside Inurnment Service will be held on Sunday, August 12, 2012 at 3:00 p.m. at Mt.

View Cemetery, Davenport, WA.

A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will follow at Zion Lutheran Church, Davenport, WA at 3:30 p.m. Pastor Jim Stern will officiate.
