Age 84


MULLIN, Elfrieda

Beloved wife and mother, Elfrieda Delora Mullin, died unexpectedly Friday, July 27, 2012, in Spokane, Washington.


She was born in Brooklyn, New York, on March 27, 1928.

She married R. Scott Withers in 1948, graduated a member of Phi Beta Kappa from Syracuse University in 1949, and moved to Fresno, California where her two children, Nowlin and Treacy, were born.

The couple moved to Juneau, Alaska in 1961 where they were employed by the State Department of Labor.

In 1968, Scott and Elfrieda divorced.
Elfrieda married Bill Mullin in 1972.

She continued her professional career, and also became a much loved stepmother to Bill’s five children and earned her Master’s degree in Public Administration.

She retired from state service in 1984, then Elfrieda and Bill moved to Priest River, Idaho then to Hope, Idaho, eventually settling in Spokane, Washington to be closer to family.
During retirement, Elfrieda became an avid weaver.

She was a member of the Spokane Handweavers Guild as well as a volunteer for AARP’s tax aid program.
Elfrieda is survived by her husband of forty years, Bill; sister Elizabeth Clinton; children Nowlin, Treacy, Nina, Bill, Elehna, Velja, and Gayne; grandchildren Ryan, Cory, Amber, Kent, Wynter, Kalle, Annie, Johnny, Kirsten, and Nina; great-grandchildren Jadyn and A.J.


Private services were held this week.
