More people should be armed

Amy Goodman’s column regarding “sane gun control” ignores both reality and history. Gun bans and/or magazine bans are useless in preventing gun violence. These items are already out there in the millions, and people intent on obtaining them will do so, legally or illegally. Remember Prohibition? That didn’t work out very well.

Alternatively, I suggest more people pick up a gun, learn how to use it, and carry it. In that case, James Holmes, instead of killing 12 and wounding 58 in Aurora, Colo., would have been dead after his first few shots, having been shot by a responsible citizen defending himself.
