Beyonce’s UN gig will be music video

From Wire Reports

Superstar singer Beyonce has serenaded a different New York City venue: The United Nations.

Beyonce performed her song “I Was Here” on Friday in the UN’s General Assembly Hall in honor of World Humanitarian Day, which is Aug. 19. A music video of the performance will debut the same day.

Beyonce sang in front of hundreds, including Julia Stiles, R&B singer The Dream and songwriter Diane Warren, who wrote the song.

Anderson Cooper hosted, saying with a laugh: “Is this what happens at the UN every Friday night?”

Stars come out at Foreign Press lunch

Steven Spielberg talked movies with Harvey Weinstein. John Travolta chatted with Bradley Cooper. Dustin Hoffman and Jack Black shared cellphone photos.

Those stars, along with Kerry Washington, Jennifer Lawrence, Kelsey Grammer, Christina Hendricks and others, lit up the Hollywood Foreign Press Association’s annual summer luncheon Thursday at the Beverly Hills Hotel, where the group behind the Golden Globe Awards presented grants and introduced its officers for the coming year.

The stars helped present and accept $1.2 million in grants from the association to organizations around the country that promote film education and preservation.

Spielberg thanked the organization for its support of film-preservation efforts that totaled $3.6 million over the past 16 years. Film is “mankind’s most original medium,” he said.

Town rebuffs ‘Jersey Shore’ spinoff

The Jersey shore town that tried to close its bars early and restricts overnight parking has said no to “Snooki & JWoww.”

The Point Pleasant Beach Council unanimously voted against 495 Productions’ request to tape the “Jersey Shore” spinoff featuring Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi and Jennifer “JWoww” Farley.

The request says the cast would be living outside of town.

Councilman William Mayer told the Asbury Park Press it’s not what the town needs at this point.

The state’s top liquor regulator is blocking the town from imposing a midnight bar closing. The time and overnight parking restrictions are designed to reduce noise near the beachfront.
