Police seeking witnesses to Saturday car accident

From Staff And Wire Reports

Spokane police are seeking help identifying a woman who was struck by a vehicle at 37th Avenue and Crestline Street on Saturday evening.

Officers responded at 7:40 p.m. and found a woman unconscious in the roadway. She was transported to an area hospital with life-threatening injuries, Cpl. Lydia Prichard said in a news release.

Officers were able to contact the driver, but Prichard did not include any details about the driver.

The victim appeared to be 60 to 70 years old with a short build and about 120 pounds. She wears glasses and was wearing light blue shorts, white ankle socks, a white tank top and white New Balance walking shoes.

Investigators want anyone who witnessed the collision or who thinks they know the identity of the victim to call Crime Check at 456-2233 and leave information for Cpl. Mike Carr.

Airliner catches fire at Sea-Tac

SEATTLE – A Sea-Tac airport spokesman said all passengers were safely evacuated after a United Airlines plane caught fire before taking off.

The Seattle Times reports that firefighters responding on Saturday discovered flames coming from the auxiliary power unit of United Flight 776, a Boeing 757 that was scheduled to depart at 10:30 p.m. for Dulles International Airport in Washington, D.C.

Sea-Tac spokesman Perry Cooper said firefighters extinguished the flames and the plane was evacuated. A preliminary investigation indicated that the fire might be traceable to residual oil in the auxiliary power unit, which is located in the plane’s tail.
