Three area teams compete in ASA tourneys

Coeur d’Alene Crush ’97 led the showing by a trio of area 14-U and 12-U teams that competed in Amateur Softball Association national-level championship softball tournaments the first week of August.

 Crush ’97, the two-time Idaho 14-U state champions and 2012 Northwest Region runner-up, had a 3-2 record in bracket play at the 14-U A ASA/USA National in Sioux Falls, S.D., to tie for 33rd in the 114-team tournament.

 Spokane Crash had a 2-2 record in the  12-U B Western National in Salem, Ore., tying for 17th in the 49-team tournament, after a 1-1 record in pool play, to complete a 48-13 season.

 Northwest Wildfire of Coeur d’Alene was winless in four games (two pool play, two bracket play) in the 63-team 12-U A Western National in Roseville, Calif.

Basketball

Shea Rubright also was a member of the Spokane Stars girls fifth-grade team that won a national championship in Las Vegas recently. Her name was left off the list published last week.

Jason Rubright served as head coach.
