Nearby fire has not closed I-90

SR 10 to Wenatchee closed by fire

Interstate 90, the main east-west route across Washington, remains open Wednesday as crews battled the Taylor Bridge fire. “It will remain open right now,” Megan McDunn, of the state Department of Transportation, said. “It all depends on the wind.” The state did close a section of U.S. Highway 97 north of Ellensburg on the way to Wenatchee, and a section of State Route 10 between Ellensburg and Cle Elum because of the fire. It is rerouting travelers to Wenatchee farther west on I-90 to Cle Elum, then using State Route 970 to connect with U.S. 97 above the fire. The Transportation Department also has a special red box with updated road information because of the fire on its main website.
