William Pershing
(Age 93)

Bill was born on January 22, 1919 in Bluefield, WV and passed away on August 11, 2012 in Spokane, WA.

He is survived by his son, James W. and Karen S. Allen of Spokane, two granddaughters, two step-granddaughters, one step-grandson, and four great-grandchildren all of Spokane.

He was preceded in death by his parents, seven brothers, and his wife Mildred D. Allen of 67 years.
Bill graduated from Bluefield High School in 1939, went to Bluefield College on a football scholarship, and then married the love of his life.

He worked for the Norfolk & Western Railroad from 1941 - 1943.

He enlisted in the Army and served from 1943 - 1946 in the European Theater.

Bill returned home in April of 1946, resumed his career on the railroad, and retired after 40 years of service.

He and Mildred moved to Spokane in June of 1995 to be close to their son.


Bill loved to walk in the mall.

Before he left Bluefield he had logged 25,000 miles walking in the mall.

He was very outgoing and never met a stranger.

He and Mildred were members of First Church of the Nazarene in Spokane where they were active in all church activities such as the exercise club, birthday club, and he was a church usher.
The family would like to express their thanks and gratitude for the tender loving care that Bill received during his lengthy stay at Regency at Northpointe.
Funeral services will be held at Sunset Chapel at Fairmount Memorial Park on Friday, August 17, 2012 at 11:00 AM.

Entombment will follow at Fairmount Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, the family would ask donations be made to First Church of the Nazarene, 9004 N. Country Homes Blvd, Spokane, WA.
