WSP patrol car kills pedestrian at Mount Vernon
MOUNT VERNON, Wash. — A Washington State Patrol car struck and killed a pedestrian Tuesday night on Interstate 5 off-ramp an at Mount Vernon.
The patrol says the trooping was exiting from I-5 at 9:45 p.m. when he hit the 26-year-old man who died at the scene.
The trooper was not injured. He is on leave for the investigation by the patrol and Mount Vernon police.
Trooper Keith Leary called the death a tragic accident and said, “Our hearts go out to that family.”
