Religion Notebook: Women of Faith conference begins Friday
The Women of Faith conference is coming to the Spokane Arena, 720 W. Mallon Ave., Friday and Saturday.
This year’s theme is Celebrate What Matters and the event includes a worship band, a ballet and 27 speakers, authors and musicians.
Grammy-award-winning singer CeCe Winans will perform, as well as author, speaker and singer Sheila Walsh, author Liz Curtis Higgs, the band Selah and storyteller Ken Davis.

Benefit pizza dinner
Family Promise of Spokane, formerly Interfaith Hospitality, will hold a benefit pizza night from 5 to 7:30 p.m. Monday at South Perry Pizza, 1011 S. Perry St.
The event will feature an all-you-can-eat pizza bar to raise funds for Spokane’s homeless community.
Tickets are $30 for pizza and two glasses of beer or wine or $25 for pizza and soft drinks.

Rev. Baraza to speak about Islam
Immaculate Heart Retreat Center, 6910 S. Ben Burr Road, will present the Rev. Patrick Baraza Tuesday in a day of prayer and conferences starting with a Rosary at 9 a.m.
Baraza will present “Islam: Muslims are our Neighbors, Too,” which will include topics such as “Assumptions: Ours and Theirs,” “Muhammad: The Prophet of Islam,” “Succession Battles,” “Religious Guidance (Shariah Law),” the Tenets of Islam and “Islamization and Arabization of the World.”
The cost for the day is $35 per person or $45 for the use of a private room and includes all conferences, confessions, Mass and lunch.
