Barbecue planned to welcome new priest

The congregation of the Episcopal Church of the Resurrection will welcome a new priest-in-charge Sunday with a barbecue.

The Rev. Linda Bartholomew will preside over the 9 a.m. worship service Sunday and the welcome barbecue will follow. The church will provide hamburgers and dessert. Those attending are asked to bring a side dish to share.

The church, at 15319 E. Eighth Ave., has been without a permanent priest since December 2009. A combination of temporary priests and supply pastors has filled the pulpit since then.

Bartholomew most recently was an associate rector at Grace Church in New York City for almost eight years.
