Obituary: Blackwell, Vera Mae (Ellis)

BLACKWELL, Vera Mae (Ellis)

1930-2012

Our loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother passed away peacefully in her sleep August 14, 2012, at the age of 81.
She was born in Spokane on October 29, 1930, and was a graduate of North Central High School.

In 1951 she married Bert Blackwell, and they raised their family in North Spokane.
Vera worked for over 40 years as a bookkeeper for the Stockyards in Spokane and Davenport.

She took an active interest in life and all it had to offer: square dancing; singing in the church choir; sewing, cake decorating; pottery, sculpting; belly dancing; rubber stamping; reading; puzzles, and word games.

She was a Girl Scout leader for many years.

Her quiet demeanor was punctuated by a sharp wit and a wicked sense of humor.

She enjoyed gardening and was fond of iris and geraniums.

She loved camping and spending time at the family cabin on Loon Lake, but most of all, she enjoyed her family and watching the kids play.

She will be greatly missed by all.
She was preceded in death by her husband Bert, who passed away in 2006.

She leaves to mourn her passing, daughters Cindy Blackwell and Sandra Blackwell; son Mick Blackwell; granddaughters Kayte Blackwell and Jesse Blackwell, grandson Josh Blackwell; great-grandchildren Vaughn, Larissa and Stella; sister Mary Lu Nary; nephew Quay Nary, and a wide circle of in-laws, “out-laws,” friends and acquaintances.

Please join us for a gathering of friend to celebrate her life at 4:00p.m., Saturday, August 18th, at the family home.
In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the Girl Scouts of the Inland Empire.
