Erik, a wonderful husband, loving son, teasing brother and a caring and dependable friend passed away peacefully August 14, 2012 at Sacred Heart in Spokane, Washington with Katie, his wife, at his side.
We treasure the music you brought to our ears, the witty comebacks and biting satire that made us laugh and your willingness to give of yourself.
What you have shared with all of us, lives within each of us everyday.
We are comforted to know you are free of pain, able to play your music and share your humor.
Erik loved his music, his many bulldogs, camping, and the Gonzaga Bulldog basketball team.
Erik was born in San Diego, California in 1961.
He was raised in Spokane, Washington and graduated from University High School in 1980.
He began his career as an X-Ray/CT/MRI Tech at Deaconess and Valley Hospitals.
Erik later became a CT Supervisor working at Kootenai Medical Center and most recently as an MRI Tech with Dr. Larson’s clinic in Post Falls, Idaho.
Erik met the love of his life, Katie Barry, while working at Deaconess Hospital and they were married on August 20, 1988.
Erik is survived by wife, Katie Koeppen; mother, Jacquelyn Koeppen; sisters Erin Koeppen, Kerry VanWinkle, Betty Hale and Billy Jean Teagle; brother Robert Koeppen; father and mother-in-law Dick and Kathy Barry; sister and brother-in-law Maureen and Richard.
His father, Paul Koeppen, preceded him in death.
The family wishes to express their appreciation for the love and support of Chris, Rhonda, Kenny, Kimmy, Pete and Janna and many others of you, too many to name.
No funeral will be held per Erik’s request.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be given to SCRAPS and/or The Elks Children’s Therapy fund.
