Don’t politicize patriotism

I’m a veteran, Vietnam era. I remember then how the draft seemed to be waived for one reason or another if you were wealthy. It wasn’t fair then to ask only the less well off to fight for our country, and I see nothing but parallels to the same fat cats getting out of serving the country that has given them so much infrastructure from which to make their fortunes. They claw at any attempt to get them to pay a fair share now, when we obviously need it so much.

I also want to be on record that I am sick and tired of seeing these same Republicans and tea partyers, as that’s the party most of them claim, wrap themselves up in the flag as if they were the only party to ever fight for, care about, and die for this country.

Back off! Don’t mistake tolerance of your views with a lack of passion for helping the middle class and poor of this country!
