Obituary: Dunham, Harold Ray

Age 81

DUNHAM, Harold Ray “Hal”
(Age 81)

Our beloved dad passed away in the arms of his children July 30, 2012 in Palm Desert, CA.

He was born in Lewiston, ID January 31, 1931 to Earl and Edith Dunham.

He was raised in Walla Walla, WA.

He graduated from Walla Walla High School in 1949 and was quarterback for the football team.

He received a football scholarship to play quarterback at the University of Oregon and majored in history.

As a Duck, he stills hold the record for the longest pass thrown from scrimmage.

Following a stint with the San Francisco 49ers, he became an aircraft controller in the U.S. Air Force where he enjoyed living in Japan.

After his military service, he became a stockbroker with Merrill Lynch and an independent financial consultant.

Hal loved travel, especially his time in Italy and New York City, football, history, old movies, fine wine, good food, and most of all, conversations with his family and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents, brothers Wally and Ron, sister Glenna, and infant daughter Mary Cecile Dunham.

Hal is survived by his children: Kelly (Peter) Tormey, Kimberly Dunham (Larry), and Courtney Dunham; Casey Dunham, Jason (Marie) Dunham, and Yancey (Kathy) Dunham; stepsons Sean Egan, and Ryan Egan; and 10 very special grandchildren.

A private burial service will be held Friday, August 24 at 1 pm at Mt.

View Cemetery in Walla Walla, WA.

A celebration of Hal’s life will be held on Saturday, August 25 at 5 pm in his daughter Kimberly’s backyard where he so loved.

Our dad will be always be remembered for his sense of style, his engaging conversational skills, and his unwavering belief that only God could have made a rose.

And he will forever like New York in June…how about you?
