Passed away June 19, 2012.

She was born March 18, 1917 in Meadville, PA to Dale O. and Enid (Findlay) Miller.

She graduated from Wilkinsburg High School, Wilkinsburg, PA in 1934.

In 1938 she married Dean Burtt Kiefer in Pittsburgh, PA and he passed Sept. 19, 1986.

They lived in New Jersey for 31 years and raised one daughter Margot and three sons Charles, Dean and Dale.

Mom enjoyed sewing, cooking, making jewelry, poetry and especially animals of all kinds.

In 1978 she and Dean retired to Bessemer City, NC and she became an active member of St. Andrews Episcopal Church there.

She helped organize Bessemer City’s 100th Anniversary Celebration and contributed to a book of the town’s history.

In 2006 mom moved to Spokane where she enjoyed the company of her new friends at Rockwood At Hawthorne, her two cats and being near her son Dean and his wife Karen.

She especially enjoyed a visit to Cat Tails in 2010 where she was able to spend time playing with and petting Amura, a baby Bengal tiger.

She was also a member of St. David’s Episcopal Church in Spokane.

Mom died peacefully at Hospice House of Spokane and the family sincerely thanks the staff for their care.

She is survived by her sons Dean B. Kiefer and Karen Gendron of Spokane; Dale E. Kiefer and Elizabeth Kiefer of Hackettstown, NJ; daughter-in-law Cheryl Kiefer of Laramie, WY; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband and a son Charles S. Kiefer.

Memorial Service 1:30PM Wednesday August 22, 2012 at Rockwood At Hawthorne, 101 E. Hawthorne Rd.
