Obituary: Martin, Nicholas Carl

Age 30

MARTIN, Nicholas Carl

Nicholas Carl Martin bravely fought cancer for almost three years before succumbing on August 13, 2012 in Spokane, WA, at the age of 30.
“Nick,” the son of Daniel and Tamara Martin, was born on 26th of May, 1982 and was raised with his brothers Ben and Mike in Deer Park.

From an early age, Nick developed an insatiable passion for music and taught himself how to play guitar.

He graduated from Riverside High School with the class of 2000 before attending the University of Idaho for music.

Shortly after returning home, he met his best friend and future wife Jennifer Leigh Fielder.

They were married on July 15, 2006 at the Deer Lake Resort and share two beautiful children, Aidan, age five, and Alison, age two.

He was well known in the Deer Park community as the owner of Little Willy’s Auto Body as Nick took over the shop at only 22 years of age when his father passed away unexpectedly.

His hobbies included fishing, spending time with family and friends, fishing, music, simply being outdoors and… Fishing .

Nick was best known as an extraordinarily genuine, kind, and hardworking man.

Notorious for his dry sense of humor and quick wit, Nick could effortlessly soften even the hardest of hearts with a single remark.

A devoted family man, he was a pillar of support for those around him regardless of the circumstances.

In the last months of his fight against cancer, he still found the strength to travel to Washington D.C., take his children on a vacation to Disneyland, and of course, go fishing with his beautiful wife.
Nick is survived by his wife and best friend, Jennifer; son, Aidan; daughter, Alison; mother, Tammy; brothers, Ben and Michael; sister-in-law Meaghan; his niece, Addison; and his grandmothers, Joyce Martin and Betty Babcock.

He is also survived by his coupled family: the Fielders, Mitchells, Ryans, and the Henrys, whom he loved as his very own, and his childhood friends: Philipp Gordley, Sean Nickerson and Ty and Logan Krohn.

He was predeceased by his father, Daniel Martin.
A Memorial Service will be held at the Deer Park Middle School gymnasium at 1pm on Saturday, August 25, 2012.

The service is being handled by Lauer Funeral Home in Deer Park.
