Passed away August 17, 2012 at Avalon Care Center in Spokane, WA.

She was born to William Larkin and Emma Joyce (Lingle) Coffey on May 8, 1912 in Omak, WA.

Edna attended grade school in Malott, WA and in 1932 she graduated high school in Okanogan, WA.

On August 15, 1934 she married Frank H. Nickell in Pateros, WA.

Over their time of marriage they lived in Wenatchee, Winthrop, St. Paul, MN, and finally settled in Spokane in 1942.

Frank was employed by the USPS for about 40 years.

Together they raised hybrid iris as a fulfilling hobby for over 60 years.

They were members of the Inland Empire Iris Society and Spokane Garden Club.

Edna was a lifetime member of the North Side Church of Christ (at the time of her death, Edna was the oldest living member of the church) and she was active with the Boy Scout Mother’s Groups.

She is survived by her daughter Rae Eccleston of Ananconda, MT, and son Bill Nickell of Seattle, WA.

She also had numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren, daughters-in-law Mary Windishar Nickell of Alameda, CA, and Sandy Nickell of Rowley, MA.

Edna was preceded in death by her husband Frank H. Nickell in 2002 and son, Larry Nickell of Alameda, CA in 2011.

A funeral service will be held at Heritage Chapel on Tuesday, August 21, 2012 at 10am.
