In brief: Spokane woman killed in motorcycle crash
BREWSTER, Wash. – A Spokane woman was killed in a two-motorcycle accident Saturday on State Route 153.
Washington State Patrol troopers said Bonnie L. Grant, 49, died in a 9 a.m. crash 12 miles north of Brewster when she and another motorcyclist, Deanna M. Griffith, 52, of Spokane, slowed quickly to adjust to traffic and collided. Both were southbound.
Grant left the roadway and was thrown from her 2001 Yamaha. She and Griffith were taken to Three Rivers Hospital in Brewster, where Grant was pronounced dead and Griffith was treated for shock.
The crash remained under investigation Sunday, but no charges against Griffith were expected, police said.
Seattle-bound flight reports emergency
NEWARK, N.J. – A second United flight departing Newark Liberty International Airport in the last two days has had to return after an emergency.
The Federal Aviation Administration said United Flight 409 bound for Seattle returned to the airport at about 9:15 a.m. Sunday after reports of possible smoke in the cabin and cockpit.
No injuries were reported.
