WSU women’s soceer opens season with win over GU
Micaela Castain, Kayla Johnson and Brandi Vega scored as Washington State opened its season with a 3-0 win over Gonzaga on Sunday in nonconference action in Pullman.
Gurveen Clair made three saves as the Cougars gave Keidane McAlpine a victory in his first game as head coach. Susan Brown made six saves for the Bulldogs (1-1-0).
WSU hosts Boise State on Friday and Gonzaga visits Idaho.
• Chelsea Small scored in double overtime to give Idaho a 1-0 nonconference victory over South Dakota in its home opener.
Small scored from 6 yards out off a pass from Jill Flockhart in the 104th minute. Senior goalkeeper Liz Boyden (Ferris) made five saves for her 12th career shutout, setting an Idaho (1-1) record.
