A Spokane County couple lost their home to a fire this morning. “There’s just nothing,” said Robin Perry, soon after rushing home from work and placing her unharmed dog, Suka, in an outbuilding while fire crews continued to work. Neither Perry nor her husband, Lynn Perry, were home when it started. Firefighters were called to the manufactured home, 2010 W. Dogwood Lane, about 9:40 a.m., said Spokane County Fire District No. 3 Chief Bruce Holloway. The home, located between Spokane and Cheney, was on 10 acres of wooded property with a well-tended garden. Holloway said the fire was reported by a neighbor. It was fully engulfed when crews arrived. The district spent much of the morning fighting at least four lightning-induced wildfires, he said. “That’s a possibility here,” he said, though it started inside or directly next to the home. About 30 firefighters were dispatched to the scene. Perry said that she and her husband lived in the home southwest of Spokane for 12 years. The couple has insurance.
