Motorcyclist injured in early Wednesday crash

WEDNESDAY, AUG. 22, 2012, 11:24 A.M.

A Newman Lake man was injured early Wednesday in a three-vehicle pile-up on Interstate 90 near the Sprague Avenue exit.

Cody L. Smith, 29, was taken to Providence Sacred Heart Medical Center following the 7:49 a.m. accident, the Washington State Patrol reported.

Smith and two other vehicles were headed west on I-90 when a 2008 Kia driven by Ian Martin, 29, of Liberty Lake, swerved for traffic, the WSP said. A 2005 GMC Yukon driven by Lance Woodall, 44, of Post Falls, then hit the Kia. Smith’s 2000 Honda motorcycle then hit the Yukon, the WSP reported.

The other two drivers were not injured.

Smith was wearing a helmet and the other two drivers were wearing seat belts, the WSP said.
