State probing WSU financial aid glitch

Associated Press
PULLMAN — State officials say they’ll make inquiries about a new financial aid system that has created confusion for students at Washington State University. Hundreds of students brought their concerns about financial aid glitches to university administrators earlier this week. School officials tell The Daily Evergreen (http://dailyevergreen.com), Washington State’s student newspaper, that the problem is unfamiliarity with the new system that launched earlier this year. John Fraire, WSU’s vice president of student affairs and enrollment, says it’s hoped most students will receive their financial aid by the end of this week. Classes began at Washington State on Monday. Mindy Chambers, a spokeswoman for the Washington State auditor’s office, says state officials will discuss the financial aid situation with university administrators to see how the problems unfolded and what the school is doing to fix them.
