A retired cabinet maker, passed peacefully into the Gates Eternal on Thursday, August 16, 2012.
He was a resident of Spokane for 92 years.
A Memorial Service will be held at the Mead United Methodist Church, Mead, WA with Pastor Bill St. John officiating.
A brief service will be held for Norm at 12:00 Noon on Sunday, August 26, with refreshments to follow.

Norman was born to Martin John Valsvig and Esther Jubilena (Johnson) Valsvig on April 26, 1915, at Max, McLean County, North Dakota.
He attended schools in the Spokane area, was in the National Guard, and graduated from John Rogers High School.
He enlisted and served in the United States Coast Guard during World War II for four years.
In 1946 he commenced his career at Spokane Woodworking as Superintendent.
He worked there for 49 1/2 years until his retirement in 1995.
He was an accomplished, conscientious craftsman in woodworking.
His work was his hobby and his hobby was his work.
We look forward—with spiritual consolation, to the time when we shall join him in the Home not built by men, but eternal in the Heavens.
He had belonged to the Eagle’s Bowling League and the Carpenter’s Union #1136 where he held the position of Secretary for many years.
In his younger days he had served at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church on the Board of Trustees many times and later on he worked on the expansion and remodeling project at the Mead United Methodist Church.
Both churches were most appreciative of his knowledge and expertise.
After age 65, while still working full time as a cabinet maker, he remodeled and made a new addition to his home.
In 1982, he attended the 50th Class Reunion at Rogers High School.
Survivors include his wife, Rose, at their home, two brothers, Glen and Noble Valsvig, Spokane; one sister, Gladys Davis, of Lubbock, Texas; numerous nephews, nieces, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Myrtle E. Leonard and Elin C. Helton, three brothers-in-law, Dick Leonard, Stephen Helton, and Aubrey Davis.
He enjoyed worship at the Mead United Methodist Church and had been a member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church before it closed its doors.
