Spangle rollover leads to assault charge

A Spokane woman faces a vehicle assault charge after the Jeep Cherokee she was driving rolled off the highway near Spangle, the Washington State Patrol reported late Saturday. Leah F. Gurske, 24, was northbound on U.S. Highway 195 about a half mile north of Spangle when the SUV left the road just before 6 p.m. She was transported to Deaconess Hospital and was no longer a patient on Sunday. A passenger in the Jeep, Daniel G. Hill, 28, was transported to Providence Sacred Heart Medical Center where he was listed in satisfactory condition on Sunday afternoon. Use of alcohol was a factor in the crash, WSP said. Both Gurske and Hill were wearing seatbelts.
